New Regulations for motorized water sports Activities
On Thursday, the Ministry of Tourism announced new regulations aimed at individuals engaging in motorized water sports.
Effective immediately, these individuals must clearly define the areas where they are permitted to launch their vessels, as mandated by an order from Tourism Minister Bogdan Trif, according to News.ro.
Safety Zones Established for Swimmers
Furthermore, within a 300-meter radius from designated swimming areas, only non-motorized boats will be allowed. Beyond this marked perimeter, motorized watercraft can operate freely.
This initiative aims to prevent incidents similar to those that have occurred along the coast, where several tourists were injured by boats traveling at excessive speeds, as stated by the Ministry of Tourism.
Importance of Regulation
„Such regulations were essential, especially given the growing popularity of water sports, particularly along the coastline. We felt it was crucial to implement this order promptly. We can no longer allow unfortunate incidents to occur in areas where people come to relax or engage in aquatic sports, whether on the Black Sea coast or elsewhere. I also urge tourists currently enjoying their vacation to heed the lifeguards’ advice,” emphasized Minister Bogdan Trif.
Enforcement and Compliance Measures
Following the publication of this order in the Official Gazette, the Ministry of Tourism’s Control Directorate will initiate guidance activities along the coast to ensure compliance with the new regulations.
After this initial period, businesses involved in water sports that fail to adhere to these guidelines may face fines and the potential revocation of their operating licenses.
„The Ministry supports the continuation of water sports activities but stresses that operators must ensure they do not cause any inconvenience to beachgoers, swimmers, or guests at nearby hotels and guesthouses,” the institution reported.
