ANEVAR Welcomes New Leadership for 2020-2021
The National Association of Authorized Evaluators in Romania (ANEVAR) has appointed Sorin Petre as its new president for the upcoming two-year term, covering 2020 and 2021. This transition follows the leadership of Dana Ababei, as announced in a statement released to AGERPRES on Tuesday.
Regulatory Framework and Leadership Structure
According to Government Ordinance No. 24/2011, which outlines various measures related to asset evaluation and was later amended by Law No. 99/2013, the operational framework of ANEVAR stipulates two-year terms for the president and the ten other members of the Board of Directors. Each president is elected two years prior to assuming office, during which they serve as the first vice president, actively participating in all organizational meetings and activities to ensure continuity in strategy and partnerships.

Sorin Petre expressed his commitment to upholding the highest standards in ANEVAR’s future endeavors. „To achieve this, we must adopt a proactive approach, ensuring we are professionally equipped to meet the demands of those utilizing evaluation services. Additionally, we need to stay abreast of technological advancements and the latest trends in the economic sectors related to our profession,” he stated.
Professional Background and Experience
With over two decades of experience in consultancy, Sorin Petre has been involved in more than 400 asset evaluation projects, including tangible and intangible assets, report verifications, financial analyses, feasibility studies, and business plan development. His previous roles within ANEVAR include serving as vice president and first vice president from 2012 to 2015 and again from 2018 to 2019. He also led the Verification and Monitoring Department during his tenure as chair of that committee from 2012 to 2015.
Accreditations and Memberships
Sorin Petre holds accredited membership with ANEVAR in enterprise evaluation and is a full member specializing in real estate, financial instruments, and report verifications. He is also affiliated with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), recognized as a European Valuer (REV) by TEGoVA, and is a member of the Chamber of Financial Auditors in Romania.
Current Role and Specializations
Currently, Sorin Petre is a partner in the Advisory Services department at PricewaterhouseCoopers Romania, where he leads the Valuation & Economics team. His expertise encompasses financial analysis, company evaluations, asset and financial instrument assessments, feasibility studies, financial modeling, and business plan formulation.
Educational Background
Sorin Petre graduated from the Polytechnic University of Bucharest with a degree in Electrical Engineering and completed a postgraduate course in Financial Diagnosis at the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, having completed the international CFA program offered by the CFA Institute in the United States, and is also an ACCA graduate, having undergone a four-year training program in the UK.
