Florentin Pera, antrenor SCM Rm. Vâlcea: Meciul cu Bietigheim a fost foarte disputat

SCM Rm. Vâlcea Triumphs Over Bietigheim in Champions League Opener
In an exhilarating start to Group C of the Champions League, SCM Rm. Vâlcea secured a 34-27 victory against Bietigheim. Coach Florentin Pera emphasized that the team’s defensive performance in the second half was pivotal to their success, while Bietigheim’s Martin Albertsen expressed dissatisfaction with the officiating.
Strong Offensive Display and Defensive Adjustments
SCM Rm. Vâlcea showcased a formidable offensive strategy against Bietigheim, particularly excelling in the second half where they conceded only nine goals. Pera remarked, „It was a highly competitive match that surely entertained our fans. While we scored a significant number of goals, I feel we could have improved defensively. In our last encounter with CSM București, we allowed just 19 goals, yet our attacking play was commendable, despite missing some clear opportunities. Scoring 34 goals against a well-rounded and experienced team is a testament to our performance. Although we have a new lineup compared to last season, I believe we played exceptionally well overall.”
Strategic Adjustments at Halftime
During the halftime break, with the score at 20-18, Pera communicated a clear message to his players: „I urged the team to adopt a more aggressive approach, assigning individual responsibilities. They executed their defensive roles effectively, which I believe was key to our victory. We allowed our wings more freedom to shoot, and we implemented better strategies for dealing with their pivot.”
Bietigheim’s Perspective on the Match
On the other side, Martin Albertsen, the head coach of Bietigheim, noted that the first half was closely contested and expressed confusion regarding the team’s performance after the break. He also raised concerns about the officiating, particularly the decision to appoint a Serbian referee for this match in Romania.
As the Champions League progresses, both teams will look to refine their strategies and performances in upcoming matches.
