Charlize Theron susţine că nu-i este ruşine să vorbească despre cum a fost ucis tatăl său

Charlize Theron Reflects on Her Father’s Death and Family Violence
Charlize Theron openly shares her experiences regarding the tragic moment when her mother, acting in self-defense, fatally shot her father, as reported by BBC on Tuesday.
At the age of 15, Theron found herself hiding in her bedroom with her mother while her father, who struggled with alcoholism, fired shots through the door.
Raised on a farm near Johannesburg, South Africa, Charlize lived with her mother, Gerda, and her father, Charles. She characterized her father as „a deeply troubled man,” explaining that living with an alcoholic created a „hopeless situation.”
Recalling the incident that led to her father’s death, she described him as so intoxicated that „he shouldn’t have been able to walk” when he entered their home brandishing a firearm.
„My mother and I were bracing the door because he was trying to force it open. We both leaned against it to prevent him from pushing it in. He stepped back and fired three shots through the door. Miraculously, none of those bullets hit us. My mother, in self-defense, ended the threat,” Theron recounted during her interview with NPR.
Charlize emphasized that the violence she experienced within her family is a reality shared by many. „I’m not ashamed to talk about it because I believe that the more we discuss these issues, the more we realize we are not alone in our struggles,” she stated.
In the same interview, the Oscar-winning actress for „Monster” also recounted a disturbing experience where a film director inappropriately touched her after inviting her to an audition at his home. She expressed frustration at having apologized to him before leaving, a reaction that angered her.
The topic of sexual harassment is also addressed in her latest film, „Bombshell,” where she portrays former Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly.
