Increased Salaries for Select Public Sector Employees
Recent developments indicate that certain public sector employees will see salary increases, although this change will not apply universally. Specifically, staff from the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Labor, probation officers, and some educators will benefit from these raises. amendments to the Salary Law have been approved by lawmakers, yet professionals such as pharmacists, chemists, and biologists working in hospitals will not receive any salary enhancements.
Frequent Revisions to Salary Legislation
A member of the USR party remarked, „We are revising the salary law. This marks the tenth amendment since its implementation a year and a half ago.”
The opposition has criticized the ruling majority for neglecting numerous health sector categories during the salary adjustments for 2022. Reports suggest that hospital assistants are earning more than pharmacists, biologists, physiotherapists, and psychologists.
Disparities in Medical Research Salaries
Adrian Solomon, a PSD deputy, highlighted a concerning issue: „I was unaware that medical researchers employed in hospitals are classified under the Research and Education pay scale rather than the Health scale. Consequently, 163 medical researchers are earning a net salary of 3,500, while a resident doctor earns double that amount.”
Lia Olguța Vasilescu added, „The government program clearly outlined that the most significant salary increases up to 2022 would be for doctors and nurses to curb the exodus of professionals.”
Challenges in Oncology Services
Despite these salary adjustments, the Bucharest Oncology Institute faced a setback last week when its radiotherapy lab failed to gain accreditation due to the absence of a physicist. „Patients with serious conditions are unable to receive necessary treatments because, despite multiple job postings, poor salaries make these positions unattractive,” stated Iulian Pope, the first vice-president of the Sanitas association.
Details on Salary Increases
The upcoming salary increases will primarily benefit employees from the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Labor. Special education teachers will see a 15% increase, while certain educators will receive a 10% bonus for neuropsychological strain.
Additionally, forensic experts and probation officers are among those set to receive salary enhancements.
