Messi Strikes Gold Again: A Historic Sixth Golden Shoe

Star forward of FC Barcelona, Lionel Messi, has been honored with the prestigious „Golden Shoe” for the sixth time in his illustrious career. The award was presented to him by Juan Ignacio Gallardo, the director of the renowned Spanish publication Marca.

A Family Affair at the Award Ceremony

The award ceremony was a heartwarming event, attended by Messi’s wife and children, along with several of his teammates from Barcelona. The atmosphere was filled with celebration and camaraderie.

Messi’s Grateful Acknowledgment

Upon receiving the accolade, Messi expressed his gratitude, stating, „I want to thank everyone present here, especially my family. Today, Luis and Jordi (referring to Luis Suarez and Jordi Alba) are here, and they are two of the main reasons I have received this award. Without my teammates, I wouldn’t have been able to achieve even one of these (referring to the Golden Shoe). This is a testament to the hard work of everyone in the locker room.”

Champions League Aspirations

When asked about the Champions League, where Barcelona currently sits second in Group F, tied on points with Borussia Dortmund at four, Messi shared his thoughts: „The Champions League is undoubtedly special for us, and every year we aim to win this competition. However, La Liga holds the utmost importance; the Spanish league prepares us well for both the Champions League and the Cup. While we focus on the Champions League, we never lose sight of the league and the Cup. At Barcelona, we strive to excel in all competitions.”
