FCSB Welcomes Marcel Abăluță as New Assistant Coach
On Monday, FCSB officially announced the appointment of Marcel Abăluță (48 years old) as their new assistant coach. The experienced tactician has already begun his role, participating in the team’s training session that afternoon.
Abăluță’s Journey as a Player
Marcel Abăluță made a name for himself during his playing career at Petrolul Ploiești, where he celebrated winning the Romanian Cup in 1995. After hanging up his boots in 2004, he transitioned into coaching, taking the helm at FC Clinceni and ACS Berceni.
A Glimpse into His Career
Born on February 13, 1971, in Bucharest, Abăluță made his Liga 1 debut with Steaua on April 14, 1990, in a thrilling 5-3 victory over Farul Constanța. He played for Steaua Mizil from 1990 to 1992 before moving to Petrolul Ploiești in early 1993, where he achieved notable success, including the Romanian Cup title. In 1996, he joined FC Argeș Pitești, but only played for the first half of the season before transferring to Farul Constanța, where he became a fan favorite until 2003. He concluded his playing career at Callatis Mangalia in 2004, amassing a total of 248 appearances and 6 goals in Liga 1, along with 4 matches in the Cup Winners’ Cup with Petrolul Ploiești.
Coaching Experience
As a coach, Abăluță has led FC Clinceni and ACS Berceni as head coach. He has also served as an assistant under various coaches, including Marius Baciu, Laszlo Balint, Mugur Bolohan, and Ciprian Urican. This diverse experience positions him well to contribute to FCSB’s ambitions.
Recent Developments in the Coaching Staff
This announcement follows closely on the heels of head coach Bogdan Vintilă’s recent addition of Ovidiu Petre to his coaching staff as an assistant. The changes reflect FCSB’s commitment to enhancing their performance in the league.
